Mermaid Modelling

Hannah Mermaid is available to model for all types of photographic and film work. She is very experienced and enthusiastic! Please contact info@hannahfraser.com for all inquiries & rates.

A mermaid can be used to promote a great range of products and is a perfect subject for any creative or fantasy photoshoot or film.

Hannah has been modelling for over 10 years in TV, Film, Photographic & Catwalk. (see Modelling Site) She is also a photographer specialising in Beauty & Fashion. This experience gives her the expertise necessary for creating underwater images which are technically complex. Capturing a convincing image of a mermaid is harder than it may seem!

The photographer has to deal with bouyancy underwater, holding their breath, wearing a mask to be able to see the model, and keeping an underwater camera steady. The challenge of being a 'professional' mermaid requires graceful movement while holding the breath in a constantly shifting environment, hindered by blurry underwater vision and swimming in a costume that binds the legs together! A high level of confidence and practice under- water is essential.

Despite any difficulties, doing underwater shoots are Hannah's ultimate passion! The weightless poses she holds while swimming create the most beautiful and sinuous lines.  Hannah says, "I love the challenge, and I feel the most free and expressive while under the water."  and this obviously translates to film!

The difference between working with video or photos is huge. For photos the important thing is to keep the eyes open and the face looking relaxed while moving slowly enough for the photographer to capture just the right moment.

When shooting video, the essential skill is to be able to hold the breath for long periods of time in order to capture a reasonable amount of footage, and swimming with attractive flowing grace. Hannah explains, "I find that after about an hour diving up and down I am able to hold my breath for increasingly longer amounts of time as we progress into the session. My regular practice of Yoga and Breath Control enables me to extend my lung capacity."
